The Flood of Group Home in Western Baltimore County
I just returned from a most disappointing community meeting. For years we have known Western Baltimore County (Randallstown and Woodlawn) has gotten the bulk of the licensed group homes in the County. Tonight we experienced our votes and tax dollars at work. Apparently state government is helpless in seeing that these homes are fairly distributed across the county. I personally believe that is BS. To make matter simple, I suggest we propose putting a group home in Pikesville, Lutherville, and Towson to see how the folks in those areas shut the process down. Believe me, the licensing process would be shutdown down faster than a speeding bullet. If current laws wouldn't do the job, a proposal would be developed ASAP to deal with the situation.The first thing we need to do is get politicians in office at the local, state, and federal levels able and willing to help us find solutions to community problems. To leave a meeting of this sort without a commitment from the State Senator to work the issue is shameful.

I had a conversation a couple of weeks ago with Delegate Oliver, whom happen to be the African American representing the Randallstown area about this very same issue.
He assured me that the State had granted a moratorium on 'Group Homes' in Northwest Baltimore, County. It election time folk need to hold the elected officials accountable !
